Here’s a share…this is an excerpt (the introduction) from my forthcoming (third) poetry book, “Leave It in the Rice Field”.
Releasing in mid-August….
We all carry some form of pain.
For some, it may be subtle or limited.
For others, it may be overwhelming or bottomless.
Our hurt may stem from bad relationships or the death of a loved one, while others may suffer from something truly unspeakable.
Either way, the desire to bury that ache, somewhere deep and away, is what we long for.
Most of us live our lives pefectly well. We are happy, adjusted, loved and assured, or at least we say we are. But, our appearance may not betray our emotions.
We may quietly grapple with demons, shed unperceptive tears of trauma and struggle to fake a smile. We may live this way for days, weeks, months or many, many years. There truly is no single truth nor resolve for such emotional baggage.
I understand this, completely.
I am one of the lucky ones. I have stood at the precipice with the dead weight of torment heaved upon my back, waiting to simply succumb to that great fall.
Yet here I stand. Still.
I found a place to bury my burden, a place that would assume my grief.
My salvation now lies within a beautiful rice field upon which I have gazed.
For deep within that rich, wet soil dwells despair that I hope shall never be unearthed ever again...
