Mixed Medium Works
These pieces are a dimensional and tangible extension of Haiat's paintings, each exploring the artists internal world of deeply personal issues of violence and pain, as well as looking outwardly at the horrors and trauma of war, migration and poverty and how those same issues of violence and pain impact others. Through his primary vocabulary and material usage of torn cardboard and paper, that is raw and ragged and reminiscent of explosions and implosions, yet also delicate and floral in form, these shapes find pattern, design and beauty within the context of the shadowy imprints and the remaining residuals left by violence and trauma.  Textural, tactile and delicate, each piece is organically created with a variety of materials and elements including items such as nails, mirrors and cotton rope.
